Did you know that Valerian is illegal at tournaments?
Valerian has calming effects – this is equal for humans and horses.
Nervous horses become cooled down and the heart rate gets normalized.
If you want to control your excited horse you can feed valerian. 0.5-1.0 pound (daily ration for one horse) of root powder already is enough. Do not cook the root powder because then it looses its healing nutrients.
You can only use valerian in urgent situations – after long therapies with valerian the horse gets harmful side effects.
Valerian is illegal at tournaments due to its doping functions!
Surf tips:
- St. James-Ragwort: very poisonous and an acute threat for horses
- Skin disease in horses – Equine Sarcoids
